Birchwood Wells is Coming to Delafield
If you’ve stopped by our store in Cedarburg recently, or follow us on social media, you’ve likely heard our exciting news: We’re opening a second store in downtown Delafield!
The decision to expand Birchwood Wells has been a long time coming. We’ve been planning to put down roots in another community in southeast Wisconsin for a couple years. But finding the perfect place to do so took time. We wanted our second store to be located in a vibrant shopping area, similar to Washington Ave. in Cedarburg, with plenty of foot traffic, one-of-a-kind businesses, and a commitment to preserving both the historical architecture and natural landscape. Since we’re constantly moving tables, couches and artwork, we also needed enough space to be able to load and unload large pieces of furniture.
So when a longtime member of our Birchwood Wells family suggested we consider Delafield, it was a no-brainer.
We admit, before now, we didn’t know a lot about Delafield. But we’re quickly learning, the quaint city of 7,000-plus people offers endless charm and opportunities.
Located in the heart of Lake Country, Delafield’s outdoor activities are diverse and breathtaking. Those who love the water can boat, swim and fish on Nagawicka Lake. Hikers, cyclists and campers can explore the thousands of acres of glacial landscapes inside the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Ice Age Trail, and Glacial Drumlin State Trail. For families, Cushing Memorial Park is home to the last stops on the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Riverwalk and includes an impressive monument. Kids will also love Fort Cushing, a playground that resembles just that—a Civil War-era military fort.
Perhaps what we like most about Delafield is the bustling shopping and dining district—and the people behind it. After all, retail is what we do.
When you take a walk through downtown, you also feel like you’re traveling back in time. Many of the buildings are either from the 1800s or have been built to look like they were, yet with a freshened up, modern vibe.
For example, Belfrē Kitchen is a new restaurant located in an old church. While keeping the the 1860s historic character on the outside, the inside has been transformed to reflect the design trends of the 21st century. Not to mention, the food and cocktails are amazing.
Dozens of stores also line downtown Delafield. From local antique shops like Rickety Robin Antiques, to Wisconsin-based outdoor apparel company Clear Water Outdoor, to several women’s clothing and jewelry boutiques, shoppers can spend an entire afternoon hopping from one place to the next.
That’s why it seemed like such a natural fit for us to move in. We hope you’ll fall in love with Delafield as much as we have when you visit our new store. It’s not just a location on a map, but a feeling you get when you’re here. We’ve experienced such a warm welcome from the residents, community leaders and fellow business owners, who take such pride in their city—now our city, too. We’re thrilled to call Delafield home!
